Cheri Amour is a force to be reckoned with in the creative world—a freelance writer, editor, and author based in Kent whose passion for storytelling runs deep.

With a self-proclaimed tagline of “part-time guitarist and full-time feminist,” Cheri’s work centres on amplifying underrepresented voices across airwaves, digital platforms, and the printed page.

For six years, Cheri co-hosted The Other Woman, a groundbreaking show on Resonance FM and Soho Radio dedicated to championing women and non-binary artists. Her interviews and curated playlists were a vibrant celebration of creativity, shining a spotlight on voices that often go unheard.

In recent years, Cheri’s career has taken an exciting turn. She’s now an author, contributing to the cult music series 33 1/3 with a fascinating deep dive into the unassuming influence of ESG, the legendary South Bronx sister troupe that shaped an entire generation of music. And if that’s not enough to keep her busy, Cheri has also launched a Substack newsletter ‘Babe, gig in the city?’, where she chronicles her live music adventures with wit, insight and infectious enthusiasm.

When Cheri booked a Mini Session in Margate’s charming Old Town, she was looking for a refresh of her headshots to kick off the year ahead. As a freelancer who wears many hats, from editor to author to music enthusiast, she wanted images that reflected her dynamic and creative personality. During the session, we chatted about everything from her love of music to the joys (and challenges!) of working as a freelancer. Cheri’s energy and passion for what she does were truly inspiring, and it was a joy to capture that in her photos!
